Why a Postpartum Doula?

Double Snuggle

As a postpartum doula my role is to nurture a birthing parent through the recovery of birth and support parents through the early transitional weeks of adding a new baby to their lives. Every new parent needs a toolbox. Let’s fill yours up!

Version 4

What does a postpartum doula provide?  I will listen to what your needs are and incorporate emotional, physical, and educational support to meet your individual needs as well as provide resources that may provide additional support.

Some of the common support measures I provide are as follows: Nurturing a new mom’s physical and emotional health, infant care, lactation support, paced bottle feeding, infant sleep, infant soothing, normalizing infant behavior, swaddling, cloth diapers, nutrition with light meal preparation, organizing to adapt to a new baby, and provide support for some sleep to maximize the health and function of the parent(s).

My ultimate goal is to wean my support by teaching and empowering parents to understand their baby and trust their instincts while building confidence in their very own parenting style.

I embrace the uniqueness of each family I work with. Whatever the dynamics or make up of your family I look forward to meeting you. Whether your baby is your first or fourth you are transitioning into a new or growing family. I would be honored to support your needs during this time, and love to get to know your family during a complimentary interview!
